Day 2
16:45hrs Scott goes to sleep
Interest: Floating nets and debris. Birds (swift type with white ass, black body) playing just inches above water. 2 Loggerhead Turtles. Thousands of ‘blue bottles’.
Saw yacht to East of us est. 6nm heading same direction. Turned on Radar reflector
Scott still feeling queasy, threw up early in morning.
Water maker working perfectly. Was a little apprehensive about it but now feel confident that all is well. Produced 9 litres. Had to run a pipe from 10litre container gravity feeding water maker with salt water as bubbles on hull intake creating air pockets.
El Hierro still visible. Plan to celebrate with a beer as soon as out of sight of land.

Solar panel not getting enough sun to recharge batteries. Question on mind, will the batteries last the trip. Should have bought new ones but I guess we are already taking a chance being out here and never had the money in the first place to get them new. Educated risk we took so… stick to what we know!

Conditions: am. Sloppy pm. swells becoming flatter, less speed…

Day 3

Celebrated loss of sight of land by each having a can of beer.
Slight following breeze and minimal swell throughout the day.
Boat still feeling heavy.
Emptied water out of deck hatches and moved food to dry compartments.
Saw a dorada, Brett threw in a hand line but nothing biting . Rowed together. There was not a bit of apprehension in either of our minds with not seeing land. This was our dream to be out here. We had struggled so much and had visualised, dreamt, and now we were… in our elements.

Day 4
06:00hrs Sighted white light of another small vessel to the east, maybe row boat?
09:15hrs Wind changed to SE with cross swell. Otherwise flat sea.
15:00hrs Chopped ‘sea-me’ pole shorter as it was casting shadow on solar panels. Need max sunshine on it to assist in charging batteries.
