*At the age of 20,
he flew a single engine Cessna from California to Zimbabwe,
making the crossing in 16 days. *Together with friend Brett
Sparrow successfully completed an expedition on Africa’s Lake
Kariba (still one of the largest man made lakes in the world),
in a ten-foot 4Oyr old dinghy that they restored. They covered
nearly 1000km in the circumnavigation, almost entirely by
rowing. It took them 23 days through some of the worlds most
crocodile populated waters and remote wilderness areas. *He
has spent most of his working life traveling the world
performing acrobatic slam-dunk shows for crowds of up to
36,000 people. *For eight years he worked with the Bud Light
Daredevils, six of those years as team captain. *Three years
working in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks where he built up
the Mascot department and performed as a high flying, stunt

passion is in expeditions.
"I have been looking for a really big challenge. What could be
bigger of a challenge, than to put my own efforts up against
all the elements and 3000 miles to row. Full commitment, no
turning back, an unbelievably long way to go and an endeavor
that doesn’t end for weeks and weeks. I have spent a lifetime
around extreme sports and jobs, but never before have I heard
of one like this.
It
is something that I just have to do". |

the world, the Zambezi River. *He is a self-taught kayaker and
for many years worked as a videographer/ photographer kayaking

major rapids. This work required him to edit the footage and
produce high quality videotapes. *J~ 1994 Brett became the
first person to negotiate all the rapids of the one-day
stretch of river using a modified body board. This included
many Grade 4 and 5 rapids and one Grade 6. Bodyboarding is now
one of the favored extreme commercial activities on the
Zambezi. *From 1998-2002 he managed a 6500-acre agriculture,
cattle, agriculture and wildlife ranch in Zimbabwe. *Was a
member of the ‘Safety Team’ in the 2001 Camel White Water
Challenge (world rafting championships), and has guided in
previous International white water races. *He has run other
rivers in Africa and U.S.A. and is always eager to participate
in adventurous activities.
“I have known feelings such as loneliness, insignificance,
fear, and adrenaline. I have dealt with sleep, physical and
mental exhaustion. I have been in many life-threatening
situations where I had no one to rely on but myself I have
experienced Beauty, Tranquility, Peace, Love and their
opposites. Being out there in the middle of the sea is
multiplying every one of these things by a thousand.
Crossing
that ocean in a rowing boat is the ultimate challenge”. |
