15th anniversary of the epic crossing of the Atlantic by La Mondiale

In recognition of the 15th anniversary of the epic crossing of the Atlantic by La Mondiale in 35 days 8 hours 30 minutes, - a record officially recognised as a land to land oceanrow by Guinness world records, - "Ocean Rowing Events” are pleased to announce the charter of 'La Mondiale' from the Ocean Rowing Society International. The express purpose of this charter is to mount a bid for the Rowing Speed Record across the Atlantic to offer a much more affordable opportunity to those who wish to row an ocean as part of a larger team.

In this three year charter with the ORS International it is hoped that three ocean records will be attempted: the Atlantic in 2007, Pacific in 2008 and Indian Ocean in 2009.

A crew of 12 will row from La Gomera to Antigua on December 2nd 2007 (weather permitting) covering some 2934 miles (4722 km) (2550 nautical miles)There are a limited number of spaces on the boat still available (currently 4) and crew are still being recruited. Websites for Ocean Rowing Events and Ocean Activities Ltd are under construction, once complete there will be a further announcement.
