                 The ORS Int. is the official adjudicator of ocean rowing records for Guinness World Records

Leven Sinclair Brown

Age: 32

Profession: Stockbroker (Stocktrade, Edinburgh).

The inspiration to take up oars for this challenge can be traced back to 1987 when, at 15 years of age, Leven attended the John Ridgway School of Adventure.
Born into a sea-faring family of Hebridean ancestry, Leven was around boats from an early age. Not only is his Father a good yachtsman, but his great grandfather was navigator aboard Endeavour and Endeavour II on their Atlantic crossings for the America's Cup race in 1937.

Having experienced both the flat, calm waters of Loch Etive and intense storms in the Bay of Biscay, Leven has acquired the necessary skills, not to mention a healthy respect, for the extremes the sea has to offer. He has studied survival techniques from around the world and is therefore very well equipped for the challenge ahead.

In June 2004, Leven proved his staying power when he successfully completed the 54-mile, non-stop endurance event, The Caledonian Challenge..

The Goal
To row the Atlantic Ocean solo & unsupported, leaving Cadiz, Spain, on August 14, 2005 and arriving in Port of Spain, Trinidad approximately 120 days later. This route, taken by Christopher Columbus on his third voyage in 1498, is a new route to ocean rowing and is longer, by nearly 1000 nautical miles, than the traditional routes.

The row is being undertaken to raise money for two selected charities;

The Sportsman's Charity
The One City Trust

The target figure is £100,000 ... and there are some outstanding sponsorship opportunities available for Companies willing to support the row and these great causes. See WWW.COLUMBUSRUN.COM or Call Leven on 077 48 48 38 39 and leave a message with your name and telephone number.
