Geoff Allum Chaired the meeting

It was decided not to take minutes of the meeting but to allow a free and frank discussion

Everybody present as well as those who sent letters of support or made  phone calls agreed that the oceanrowers themselves want the Ocean Rowing Society to go on under the same name.

The question was asked ‘do we as oceanrowers want a charity or a club?’
A show of hands voted unanimously for a club.

It was suggested a club will give the society a more relaxed atmosphere, with a President, a Captain in charge and committee members, including Secretary/ Treasurer.

The meeting decided to elect a committee to prepare all necessary ‘home work’ for the future registration of a club and to report back their findings within 3 months, that is the time estimated as the period needed to clear up and resolve any obligations that might exist of the former ORS as a charity.

Those present recognized and greatly appreciated the donation of 3000.00GBP arranged by oceanrower Leven Brown made out to the future Ocean Rowing Society.

Tom Lynch (California) confirmed continuation of his long standing financial support to the Ocean Rowing Society
