GALE HITS ROW PAIR

05/05/2001

TWO Royal Marine Commandos will today begin their attempt to row unaided across the North Pacific Ocean. Corporals Tim Welford and Dominic Mee hope to become the first ever to complete the crossing. Tim, 32, said: "We're in great spirits and it's all in place. All we want to do is get on with it." They will set off from Choshi, Japan, this morning, if conditions are fine. Dom, 30, added: "Saying goodbye to people has been the hardest bit." The Mirror has sponsored Pacific Odyssey's adventure for pounds 5,000.
