The
following message was received Mon, 17 Sep 2001 18:43:35 GMT (7.43pm
BST):
"Al, - Small problem, Both 100% ok. Struck by fishing vessel
amidships, Crackers beyond repair. Please inform all we are well and
smiling again.We are both fine, shock over, no injury at all. Wait out
for more info. Tim and Dom".
With classic understatement Tim and Dom calmly informed their support
Team that Crackers can sadly go no further.
There's no doubt in the minds of all who know Tim and Dom that were it
not for this very unfortunate accident they would have made the last
1300 miles, all in the support Team take comfort from the fact that both
Tim and Dom have survived unscathed a most frightful experience.
Tim and Dom are now safely on board the APL Iolita en route to
California. Everyone involved with Pacific Odyssey would like to express
our thanks to everyone involved in this recovery including the fishermen
on scene, the Captain and crew of APL Iolita and the United States Coast
Guard who organised Tim and Doms safe transfer.
We'll be keeping you up to date with events as they happen throughout
