A CHAMPION rower will be taking on the waves of the Atlantic single handed to raise money for two cancer charities. |
|
|
Chris Martin
could spend more than three months in the boat next year crossing the
ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua — a distance of more than 3,000
miles The challenge could take more than 100 days and Chris has his eye on breaking the record for a one-man row across the Atlantic. It is currently held by Russian Fedor Konyukhov who has a time of 46 days and four hours. |

|
Most of the other rowers taking part in the
event in November next year organised by Ocean Rowing Society will have at
least one other person to share the work with but Chris has decided to
tackle the Atlantic on his own. “I know it’s going to be very demanding,” Chris said. “However, it’s amazing how much self-confidence just agreeing to take part has given me.” |

Chris, 23, isn’t phased about being struck
in the middle of the Atlantic with help a long way away. |

A great opportunity will
be on Friday (October 8) when Molesey Boat Club is hosting a TransAtlantic
Force fundraiser. |
