No decision on transatlantic rowing race row |

The transatlantic rowing race row will continue well
into next year after race organisers told the two New Zealand teams who
finished first and second that they will have to wait until the last boat
completes the journey before a judicial hearing can take place. Team CRC, who finished second to Team Holiday Shoppe, have questioned the legality of Holiday Shoppe's victory when they came from behind to win in record time. The last boat is expected to finish the 2900 nautical mile Trans-Atlantic Challenge from the Canary Islands to Barbados in five or six weeks. Race organisers want to wait until all the boats have finished the race. They say there is a possibility some witnesses who may have information are still rowing. Holiday Shoppe's Jamie Fitzgerald said yesterday the delay was yet another frustration for him and team-mate Kevin Biggar. Runners-up Steve Westlake and Matt Goodman, from Team CRC, said through their legal advisers that another crew who had finished the race supported their protest. |
