Pacific Pete is one of the very  few boats that have made 5 successful ocean rows: 1 - double and 4 - solo

In 1997 this boat entered the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race as Toc H Phoenix and was rowed by Mark Stubbs and Steve Issacs. They became the 10th double to row the Atlantic E-W

In 1999 Geoff Allum, who in team with his cousin Don Allum was the first double to row the Atlantic East to West in 1971, purchased the boat and gave it the current name - Pacific Pete (after Peter Bird, b.1947 - lost at sea1996) Since then the boat completed 4 solo rows, which were consecutively the 18th, 22nd, 31st and 48th solo rows across the Atlantic East to West.

A noteworthy fact is that all three youngest solo ocean rowers* on the Atlantic East-West Canaries to Caribbean route  rowed in this same boat - Pacific Pete.
(The youngest on all routes solo ocean rower was Oliver Hicks, who rowed the Atlantic West to East in 2005. He was 23 at his start and only slightly more than 1 months younger than Sam Knight at the start of his row)


* - The age at the start of the above mentioned youngest solo ocean rowers was as follows:
Oliver Hicks - 23 years 5 month 24 days
Sam Knight - 23 years 7 month 1 day;
Sam Williams - 24 years 1 month 10 days;
