Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi
Tourism Authority (ADTA), accepted the donation on behalf of the
Cultural District.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon commented, 'We are delighted to
accept the Memory of Zayed on behalf of Saadiyat Island's Maritime
Museum, where it will be displayed as a symbol of spirit,
determination and the good will of man kind.'
Reflecting on their journey, Stuart Turnball and Edward Baylis said,
'Without the support of Abu Dhabi we would not have been able to
fulfill our dream of rowing across the Atlantic and in the process
raise money for a cause that has not only affected us both
personally but affects millions of people around the world.'
To do it in a boat dedicated to the memory of Sheikh Zayed bin
Sultan Al Nahyan, a man renowned for his spirit, strength and
generosity of heart, gave us an enormous sense of pride and made us
even more determined to succeed.'
Following the official ceremony, Mr Turnball and Mr Baylis visited a
selection of local Abu Dhabi schools to share their experiences,
discuss the challenges they faced and encourage students to pursue
their goals. |
