4 young men [ William de Laszlo, Ben Jesty, James Bastin, William Turnage] will take to the high seas in June to set a World Record by rowing non-stop and unassisted around the British mainland. For 24 hours a day and 2000 miles come storm or raging seas they will battle against the elements for approximately 40 days in a bid to raise £1m for two charities; the Outward Bound Trust and Leukaemia Research. There will be no stoppages to replenish supplies neither will they be permitted to stop at some of the most beautiful parts of the country that they are to pass. The Duke of Edinburgh will launch the boat due to leave Tower Bridge on 7th June. The ocean rowing boat, weighing in at 1 1/4 tonnes, is nearly 15 times heavier than a standard rowing boat. |

The row will push each
member of the team beyond all physical and mental boundaries; the
training undergoing in the lead up to the launch is vigorous- up to 5
hours a day lifting weights and being tortured by rowing machines. |
