Rob Ringer ( 46 ) GB Richard Wood ( 45 ) GB
Rob, 46, was originally from Lancashire but now resides in Appleby, Cumbria. Married to Therese, with two children, Paul and Zoë. He currently works for Priory Health Care, Child Care Provision as a manager in a school for boys with educational and behavioral difficulties.
"I have been involved in working with disturbed and troubled children for the whole of my career, both in the statutory and private sectors." Rob is active in canoeing, (holding a British Canoe Union Coaching Award), running, swimming and mountain biking. Rob also has a love of music and enjoys playing various instruments. "My latest musical challenge is the didgeridoo, which I'm still trying to master after making it a couple of years ago in Australia."
When asked why he had entered the race he said, "Despite the challenges of work and maintaining a level of fitness, the Atlantic Rowing Race offers the opportunity to focus on a unique physical and mental challenge, which is far removed from my daily life. Sir Chay Blyth is offering an opportunity for 'ordinary' people to undertake an extraordinary feat and I want to be there!"
Rich, 45, was originally from Kent but now lives with his wife, Usha, and three children, Nayna, John and Joshua, in Worcester. He is a youth worker employed by Worcestershire  County Council as part of the Youth Service, managing Youthcomm a highly innovative youth communications project pioneering new approaches to youth work. Before leaving school, Richard completed a number of sailing trips with the Ocean Youth Club and at sixteen went to sea for a short period as a deck cadet with P&O General Cargo Division. After an overland expedition to Australia by public transport, he qualified and embarked upon his youth work career. He has been responsible for the management of a number of high profile youth projects and facilitated the raising of £4 million for the Developing World, as Director of the youth charity Christmas Cracker. Richard is active in rowing, canoeing and cycling. When asked why the Atlantic Rowing Race? He said, "I have always been inspired by those willing to test themselves to the limit (and beyond). I have always  wanted to engage in a challenge that would do this but within a context that I considered personally achievable, I believe this is it! For me, the challenge is not  just about the physical race itself, it's also the preparation and the huge possibilities it offers  to involve and benefit the communities we both represent. All we need now is people with the creativity and imagination to join the Team, back financially and benefit from the rewards that it will bring!"
