The four University of Puget Sound graduates*
who will try to become the first Americans to row across the North
Atlantic Ocean next summer will have a benefit reception Sept. 15 in
Seattle. The men will show off their new 29-foot ocean rowing boat at the Lake Washington Rowing Club, 910 N. Northlake Way, and make a presentation about their planned trip. Appetizers will be served. The group, Ocean Adventure Racing Northwest, needs to raise $300,000 to finance the 3,100-mile row. They have received $246 in donations so far, but they’re giving half of all donations to the American Lung Association. The group is still looking for sponsors, whose money will go directly to the project. The event starts at 6 p.m. For more information, visit oarnorthwest.com. |
