Tim and Mike have recently teamed up in an attempt to row across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canaries to Antigua in the Caribbean a distance of approximately 3000 miles. Their boat is called Fraser’s Boat, it is 24 ft long and built of marine ply. This will be their home for up to 100 days and will carry all their supplies for the journey except for drinking water which will be derived from seawater using an onboard solar powered desalination unit. |
Mike and Tim are 58 and 54 years old. Both are married and have 2 and 3 grown up children respectively. Mike is an electrical engineer by profession and works for a firm of engineering consultants involved in water industry engineering whilst Tim is an educationalist specialising in the teaching of visually impaired children. |

Tim and Mike both have a common interest in the outdoors particularly water sports but realise that the task they have set themselves will be the hardest physical and psychological challenge they have yet undertaken. They are determined that their journey will be a success however are realistic enough to know that things can and inevitably will go wrong along the way. They are prepared for this eventuality and will therefore be carrying safety survival, tracking and communication systems onboard plus they will rely on their ability to improvise solutions when needed. |

Their boat will be carrying an Argos tracking system therefore you will be able to track their progress throughout their journey via this website www.oceanrowing.com Their anticipated start date is 25 January 2006. If you would like to send a message of encouragement or suggestions then Mike and Tim can be contacted aboard Fraser’s Boat via e-mail address: frasersboat at mailasail dot com ( please substitute words at and dot with symbols @ and .)
