Race launch (prologue) - mini-race and introduction of the competitors
 in Saint-Martin-de-Ré (Charente-Maritime, France) on September 22 2006

Straight  from the start five rowers took the lead of the race:  Romain Vergé (27), the youngest entrant in the race, followed by Emmanuel Coindre, Jo Le Guenn, Jean-François Tardiveau and  Philippe Malapert
