Dorris Daisy, ‘HCL Workforce One’, is a Rossiter Yachts built glass
fibre CE marked category A ocean rowing boat. |
|
Dorris has got a carbon fibre rudder and dagger board. We found the dagger board to be vital out on the water, it allowed us to cut through stronger adverse weather for longer, therefore avoiding having to sit on the dreaded parachute anchor for as long as possible. We found Dorris to have one of the quickest natural hull shapes of all the boats in this year’s Woodvale Atlantic Race. She is a very quick and light weight boat, especially in surf conditions she responded outstandingly and felt sturdy and very safe even in the roughest weather. Rossiter Yachts have been building ocean‐going vessels for well over 70 years, and have a reputation for building rock solid boats. When buying the equipment to fit out Dorris we really did spare no expense. The kit is excellent and was installed to the highest standards, right down to the wiring we chose and the cable glands we used. This is why all of the electrics performed magnificently. All of the screws and bolts are stainless steel (http://www.londonstainless.com/about.html). Chris and I have really looked after this kit, and
it is all subsequently in great condition. • The weight of the boat (bare) is 300kgs • Dimensions: Length: 7.32m, Beam:1.85m, Draft: 0.65m • We are selling the Dorris fully kitted, including all of the peripheral gear needed to row an ocean. Here is the list including link to item description: o Comar CSB200 AIS Transponder http://www.comarsystems.com/csb_200.html o Garmin GPS Map 451 (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=28758) o Icom ICM411Fixed VHF DSC Marine Radio http://www.icom.co.jp/world/products/marine/mobile/icm411/index.html o Katadyn Power Survivor 40E http://www.katadyn.com/en/katadynproducts/products/katadynshopconnect/katadyn‐entsalzerpowersurvivors/katadyn‐powersurvivor‐40e12‐v/ o Sun Saver Duo, this is a very intelligent and easily comprehendible solar regulator and battery monitor. It made monitoring the power situation very easy indeed http://www.morningstarcorp.com/en/sun-saver-duo o TackTickT108 Wireless Wind, Speed & Depth with Triducer http://www.tacktick.com/products/132 – Chris and I found this bit of kit absolutely vital, it allowed us to monitor the wind constantly, as well as monitor our speed through the water, which told us the speed of the current that we were in. It has a minimal draw on the batteries as each of the displays and the windometer have their own solar panels. It also acted as our GPS repeater, showing us; VMG, distance to destination, time, lat, long, GPS speed, speed through the water, and a whole lot more. o Fusion MS IP500 Stereo this is an ipod docking stereo, that charges your ipod whilst playing. o Solara MSeries(Semi Flexible) Solar Panel Modules: X1 SM225M 68W; x4 SM60M – 18w = 140w total power http://www.bardenukshop.com/solara‐semi‐flexible‐solar‐panels‐52‐c.aspo Two 1.8 meter Glass Fibre Antennas http://www.pacificaerials.co.nz/MarineProducts/P6121VHF18mUltraGlassAntenna.aspx – in all honesty, these were probably the most important bit of safety equipment on the boat. We could see shipping vessels and tankers over 30nm away (and more importantly, they could see us). We had a significantly exaggerated VHF range over the standard 1m whip flex antennas that 99% of ocean rowing boats are fitted with. We actually watched vessels divert course to miss us without even contacting them. Very sturdy, excellent bits of kit. o Rolls S1295AGMFully Sealed Lead Acid Battery X2 http://www.rollsbattery.com/pdf/S12‐95AGM.pdf –These batteries were incredibly efficient, we had absolutely no power issues at all during the race.o Whale Gusher Titan Bilge Pumps x3 Including spare bladder http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product_list/7/50/ two of these are obviously installed on the boat, but we have a third spare that can be taken apart for spares. o Lopolight White 360 degree 2nm Ultra low power Nav Light http://www.mailspeedmarine.com/navigation‐search‐lights/lopolight/lednavigation‐lights‐360‐degree‐white‐anchor‐horizontal‐2nm‐50m1245329.bhtml This is 360 degree LED white nav light, that draws milliamps from the power. o Osram DOTitWaterproof
