List of successful  ocean rows by oceans

compiled by Oceanrowing.com

We gratefully acknowledge the support and help of D.H.(Nobby) Clarke
(formally of Guinness Book of Records) for his help and guidance in completing this list.

The first 12 completed oceanrows were all undertaken without water makers, without sat phones,  GPS, EPIRB and liferafts.
In fact, to quote Geoff Allum : "The first oceanrows were done under conditions that were not much different from the days of Columbus"
As Gerard d' Aboville said of his Atlantic row and all oceanrowers from that time ( 1896 - 1982): "We were like test pilots, but without a parachute."
ORS considers that the first 12 rows are
"Historic oceanrows".
Starting with row of Peter Bird ( from San Francisco to Australia, 1982), who had both watermaker and Argos onboard, the rows can be described as

"Modern Day Oceanrows".
